"Look at that guy with the stroller!"

Will and I did the Overland Park 5K Stampede this morning at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. We finished with a time of 21:13, and we were easily the first stroller team to finish! Will seemed to enjoy the run except when I went offroad to pass slower runners just after the start. I felt pretty good during the run, but I've had a cold for the last couple of days which didn't help my energy level.

I'm not sure if results will appear online somewhere or not, but I think we did reasonably well overall. Pretty good for Will's first ever competitive running event! I'll post an update if results appear.

Turns out Will and I got 7th out of 31 in my age group (men 30-34) and 77th out of 532 total participants. Can't complain about that.

  1. It's always fun passing people when you've got the jogger. Just wait till (if)? you have a another kid! When I push both kids in my baby-jogger, I've easily got an extra 85 lbs in front of me!

  2. Yeah... it was surprisingly tiring after a few miles. It didn't feel too bad at first, but the hills were harder and it just slowly added up to a more tiring run than a normal 5K.
