Is this thing on?

A bit more about how the workout tracking stuff works. I use a Garmin Forerunner 305 to track and log my running and biking. I'll upload training runs to Garmin Connect as I do them, and I'll label the training run posts as "training run". Recent runs and rides will also appear in the Garmin Connect Activities column on the left.

Here's today's lunch hill repeat run: Humorously, this is not a good example for a few reasons. First, the Forerunner's GPS receiver couldn't find a signal from 24 Hour Fitness to Antioch. That almost never happens. Second, I ran along 75th Street to and from Antioch, but the Forerunner logged a curving route that went almost a block north. Odd. Finally, the elevation profile makes it look like I didn't run up and down a hill at all. There was a hill there, I swear. I felt it... repeatedly. Just look at the heart rate data.

Seems fitting that the data would be all screwy today. Hopefully these will be better in the future.


  1. Good idea for a blog! Most of the one's I've seen just involve kids and family! So, what are your thoughts on the Garmin 305 vs 405? I like the size of the 405 better, but the $$ is a bit much right now...

    I started writing about the 305 vs. 405 thing here, but I realized it was becoming a very long comment. I'll just make a real post instead. :)
